New Dawn Blueclaw by BJPentecost New Dawn Blueclaw by BJPentecost
This is a revamp of an older piece. Now I know there is going to be at least one person crying "NNOOOOO! I like the older one better!" because without fail, every damn time I do a revamp, that happens. So if you like the older version better, here it is: bjpentecost.deviantart.com/art… I don't know why you would like a plasticy, stiff thing like that but hey, whatever floats your boat or tickles your fancy. That was actually one of the first digital paintings I had ever done. I think I had only been using Photoshop for about a year at that point.

Blueclaw is part red fox and part fennec with some Aedaha in his ancestry (hence the lanky, elongate build).

Photoshop, 25hrs + whatever it took to accomplish the original painting (can't remember, probably 20hrs or something).

For being so lanky, he must be quite the warrior. Judging by those scars I have two conclusions: he either had his appendix removed, or he was in one hell of a knife fight!

Interesting observations. ^__^ He's not exactly a warrior per se but he will fight if he has to and he has had to fight on occasion. He's not ace at it though. It's not his strong suit. He's a runner, fast as hell. He can run and jump through the trees, almost surfing through the vegetation in a way. :3

So does that mean he's more of a Rogue than some brutish warrior? I guess that explains why he's so handsome, he must be quite the charmer too...

Indeed. He's definitely not brutish and he can be charming though it's more of a haphazard accidental charm. :3

Reminds me of the Rococo style of painting because of the way you did the plants and flowers.

Actually I like this one much better....the colors, facial expression, the "mood" of the piece and the background. I'm sure I'm not alone. :) Your art is fantastic. ^^

Acrylics are nice because they dry quickly, so you can paint while on holiday and put it in your luggage for the flight back....

You've really improved since your earlier works. ( Though I kinda prefer the sci-fi theme to the fantasy one myself, but I'm a minimalist)

The clouds look real fluffy, and so does his tail. Good work with the textures here. You've also got a talent for the designs and embellishments your characters wear. Have you considered trying your hand at metalurgy?

Thanks. ^__^ I have not ever tried my hand at metallurgy but BOY would I love to! If I had the time, that is one of many, many things I would love to try out. The closest I have ever come to metallurgy is 3D printing with metals. images1.sw-cdn.net/model/pictu…

I really, really reaaaallllyyyyyy want to print this out in metal: www.shapeways.com/model/181635… but it's too big. I'd have to break it up into pieces. And it would also be VERY expensive, probably around 350$ to print it in bronze or brass.

Very stunning painting! Are the leafs and flowers individually painted in, or more towards photo-manipulation?
