Apprehension by BJPentecost Apprehension by BJPentecost
(Updates: Lightened up, larger resolution.)

I've had this thing sitting in my WIP folder for over half a year. :P About time I decided to boot it out into the real world. I may tweak a few things but it's mostly done.

Anyway, I'd love to hear your interpretations of what is going on in this painting or any stories you could invent about these characters. I've already got my own ideas but I'm curious about yours. :3 Also, I've hidden some not so subtle symbolism throughout the picture. I'd love to see if you guys can pick up on it. >83

Photoshop, Zbrush, Blender, 60 hours give or take.

The wolves' names are (in order) Falf, Haroo, and Araff.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love those intricate little details spotted in the front, and the warm life in the background. Amazing job :)

Pretty fabulous and 60 hours is good considering the detail. If you want to do anything else to it, you could throw a few lights and/ or intensify color on some objects in the foreground to create a visual path and communicate depth. The old masters did that in oils of backlit scenes like this (even when it wasn't totally realistic) bc it keeps the foreground from looking dark or flat. For example, i am not sure if the middle wolf is small bc it's a baby or further away. I want to think it is the baby and the other 2 are the mom and dad wolf.

Thanks. :) Excellent idea.

About the baby wolf, if you look closely, you can see his feet on the same plane as the mother wolf's. I like the idea of adding foreground elements though. I might just do that.
